"Digital breakthrough" - team of MSTU "Stankin" is the winner!

The team of MSTU "STANKIN" won the all-Russian competition "Digital breakthrough" held by the organization "Russia-the country of opportunities" with the support of the Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation. We took first place in the nomination "Monitoring of labour protection system".

The final of the contest, which was attended by future programmers, system administrators, graphic designers, business analysts and game designers, was held in Kazan.

This is the first mass competition for specialists in the field of digital technologies. The format of the finals is a 48-hour competition in which teams develop prototypes of digital products for a limited period of time. Competitions involve working on the project in a "non-stop" mode, so the final program has a special item "night work", and hotel accommodation is not provided.

The team of MSTU "STANKIN" was represented by 5 people: team captain graduate student Denis Kvashnin, Pavel Melikov, Maxim Nenarokomov, Ruslan Juraev, Ramir Abdulov.

The head of the delegation is associate Professor Ilya Kovalev. In "STANKIN" guys are part of the project team, organized by the Director of the centre for work with students  Ramil Nezhmetdinov for the implementation of its projects.

Students developed an automated system that processes the image of a person through a web camera and allows monitoring his/her posture and other factors of labour protection, such as compliance with labour discipline in the workplace.

This development is based on MySQL, PHP, C++, Python and other programming languages and stacks. In addition, in the field of IoT (internet of things), the guys developed not only the web panel of the system but also did the integration of the system with various social messengers (Slack and others).

"It was very interesting to participate in the competition. Each of the five members of our team was responsible for their area of the task, which allowed us to qualitatively work out all aspects of the work performed. We are happy that we were able to participate in such a cool project, and even had a little more sleep during these 48 hours!"- says Pavel Melikov, one of the members of the team.

More than 60 thousand applications were submitted for the contest. About 600 teams from 77 regions of Russia reached the final. The main goal of the project is to find new personnel for the digital economy. According to the results of the final competition, the winners were 20 teams that shared the prize fund of 10 million rubles.

"The all-Russian competition "Digital breakthrough " is a large-scale platform that can help the most talented students from all over the country to develop their professional skills and gain experience in the implementation of digital projects. Participation in the competition allowed the boys to find a team of like-minded people and apply the skills acquired in the walls of the University in practice. For many of the participants, the competition is a prerequisite for the creation of their own high - tech business projects that will contribute to the development of the economy and technological potential of the Russian Federation", - said the rector of MSTU "STANKIN" Elena Kataeva.
